It’s Black Women’s History Month on Enlighten Me, and I thought I would take a look a some current history makers among us. Women who have blazed their own trails to clear the path behind them.
Congresswoman Lauren Underwood, Il-14 made history as the first African American woman to win her congressional seat in a solid red district. She talked to us about how she decided to run and the obstacles she constantly overcomes as a woman of color running to win.
Stacey Abrams made history as the first African American democratic candidate for Georgia’s gubernatorial election. A tough race that was decided only after a recount, she talked to us about her passion for the process of government as well as working with folks across the aisle.
